The Forgotten Question: Why Are We Doing Life in Society?

We’ve only recently been asking ourselves more and more questions, such as, “What’s your WHY in LIfe?”, “What’s your WHY in doing this job?”, “What’s your WHY in marrying this person?”, and yet we seldom ask ourselves “Why am I doing life in this Society?”, “What keeps me in this endless cycle of unnecessary labour?”, “What am I really doing this for?”, “Who am I doing this for?”.

Lost in the Maze: The Dangers of Living on Autopilot

We get so caught up in the intricacies of our day to day activities, the chores, the groceries, the meetings, the events, the messages, the projections, the misunderstandings, basically the never ending responsibilities that occupy the mental space, we’ve been accustomed to living in society; so much that we lose ourselves in the maze, we eagerly call civilisation, forgetting and most of the times, misinterpreting the meaning as to why we wake up in the morning. Even worse, when we forget to establish a WHY for ourselves and only live by someone else’s.

Living for Others: Is This Your Story You Want to Tell?

You see, every time you live for someone else, you also live for the life of everyone else they live for, and as they are part of a process that fuels someone else’s, you’re also living for Brandy in Australia surfing his boredom away, 10 connections down, and you never question “Why are you really doing this for?”. Are you sure you want to pave your way into the future, living by the hands of whoever is at the top of that chain, smartly working and cultivating their freedom, on the back of your hard work?

Finding Your WHY: Building a Life on Your Own Terms

Is your life story going to be, “They were a hard working person, everyone knew of them, did an alright job at parenting, as they were busy working for someone else’s trust fund, made some good money, built the house, did all the travelling, ticked their way through their bucket list, and still died an alcoholic, as they couldn’t chip away the feeling of lack of control on their life. Never experiencing real freedom and contentment, as it was never on their terms.”?

Or would you rather find yourself on your deathbed, an inevitable step to this journey, and rest assured, on the premise of uncompromising your values, by anyone trying to influence the lifestyle you wanted for yourself and your loved ones, nor by challenging you into believing you needed to prove a point towards your capability to do so, nor into believing their view on success to be your standard view on what success means to you?

Wouldn’t you rather build the confidence from creating the life you need, not the one that’s been pictured for you to keep fueling the machine(a.k.a. Society), but the life you require to achieve a peaceful and balanced equilibrium? Investing your time in society with your loved ones, spending energy crafting in your development of skill, thanks to the facilitation of informational exchange, elevating your survival and self sufficiency toolbox, towards contentment, away from resentment, gratitude, away from greed, and unconditional sense of community.

Legacy of Values: Teaching My Child a Different Path

That’s my WHY.

I want to be able to sit across from my child and teach them about the different levels there are to life. Teach them how we created the Society we’ve led to now live in, as an expression of our desire and hope in evolution and growth. I’ll teach them they can always find growth and evolution within the circumstances they’re given, as just like water nothing ever sits still and the natural world will provide enough challenges for them to overcome, without the need to overcompensate, as there’s no real competition and reward system in life.

You can find competition in the cycle of life, if you look for it, but it’s not the main driver, it’s a circumstance in which one eats the other, to decompose what the next needs to help provide for the next kind. A concept that we so creatively brought and abused in society, as you won’t find any industry or sector, that doesn’t fuel another Next. A close to perfection distortion of reality, utilised by people who need to feel superior for their sense of accomplishment.

A very well man-made counterfeited perception and perspective of what life should be about, I would say.

We’ve honed the animalistic aspect of our character and excused our behaviours, by generalising the feeling, instead of understanding what was powering our sense of uselessness. We’ve led ourselves to believe we’re the same as a Lion, simply for the fact a lion represents in our view the high chain of the animal world, deludedly trying to bend a circle environment into a triangle.

We are not animals, we come from the animal world, we’re not meant to just be brutal, we’re an adaptation of the animal world, in the hopes of less rage and more community, we’re a cuter version of a lion, with the responsibility of utilising our given skills for the good of everyone, as we understand interconnectivity.

We’re not a waxed versions of ourselves either, who poshly sips their teas with “fingers up”, or suffocate our feet to maintain a “good looking” size, nor to feel self conscious for basic processes designed for our internal body’s relief, as basic as burping and farting.

I want to be able to sit my child and teach them how to reject the sentiment of feeling as a currency to someone else, to repudiate any projection of being seen as a currency, and to use their eloquence to voice their values in regards to the situation at hand, withstanding their grounds and standards through prioritising their self-assurance over the validation of peer pressure.

Society: A Choice, Not a Must

I want to be able to teach my kids, society is a choice, not a must, and if chosen to be seen as a means to an end, as the means to an end will eventually try to pursue you into believing your someone’s means to an end, that you’re someone’s salvation, creating a hero complex that only distracts you from your greater purpose, sucking you in for someone’s entertainment.

Though society is a means to an end, there’s people within, who are also trying to make it a vehicle to their destination, but keep getting stuck thinking that driving is the only way through. They deserve to be left wherever they see fit for themselves as not everyone sees life outside of society; some genuinely believe that’s all there is to life, it’s not our job to force them to see it any differently, it’s only our responsibility to share our findings.

Beyond the Nest: Preparing Our Children for the Real World

Imagine how grateful you would’ve been to your parents, to have constant conversation about the world we live in, for you to fully be prepared for what was coming, once out of your parents’ nest. Imagine how confident you would’ve walked in your first conversation with a bully; imagine how proud of yourself you would’ve felt if you had being anticipated the understanding of how the world goes, not just society, for you to ever think that’s everything there is to life, but truly being thought of the laws of nature, and how we’ve copied and physically manifested the fantasies and ideas we had in our minds. Undoubtedly, did a good job on the recreation aspect, but that is simply the result of our solution oriented-ness, not reality in front of us.

Breaking Free: Is This the Life You Truly Want?

Why do you think being “Solution Oriented” is the quality we always look for in job applicants? If not for the simple fact, that’s what society runs on. It’s not real. It needs people to make it look real and especially to make YOU think it’s a requirement to your contentment and survival.

Find which aren’t your reasons, identify which kind of person you deserve to be for your higher-future self. See it, feel it, live it, receive it.

Thank you for joining me on this transformative odyssey. Until next time, may we continue to strive towards being better humans, one authentic connection at a time. Peace.
