Welcome to 2023, the year I learned about my origin’s celebrations through a tempered glass at British Museum
We the:
“What if we were to offer them better housing and some means to survive to have them work for us?” of the ancestors who lived in material poverty and struggled for clear water, those who caught black plague with the same ease we catch chlamydia;
Us the dream, the richer life lived in the big cities, hustling our way through our daily activities to make ends meet;
Us so busy we don’t have the physical nor mental free-time to embrace the cultures built by those who were forced to conform to a world they didn’t ask to be part of, to allow some others to find pride in their lack of connection with nature, the spirits and detachment to something they still had the audacity to name, their Souls.
Aren’t we all still living in the unseasoned life of the small kid who can’t seem to find something that will give them peace and fulfilment which they could call theirs?
Aren’t we all part of a system that enriches the pockets of the emptiest humans alive, in a conquest to a made up concept, called Power?
Haven’t we all forgotten the joy our ancestors had throughout their hurdles, the town celebrations of gratitude to the gods, for the simple matter of experiencing life at all?
The offerings and all the meals laid down in remembrance of the lives we lost, the prayers and chants, the parties commemorating the dead, now turned in sad, silent and colourless ceremonies staring down to a grey cold stone with names carved in, left and forgotten at the dead’s gated prison, we call cemetery.
We’ll lose our origins, forget who we are and live lives we never thought we’d ever choose to live.
Welcome to 2023, the year I learned about my origin’s celebrations through a tempered glass at British Museum; the year we start hearing Afro music as movies and tv series’ soundtracks.. don’t get fooled it’s not inclusion, it’s following what’s popping, include a bigger audience in your numbers, basically follow where the money goes at all times.
Doesn’t it get tiring for you? Disappointing even, that our legacy has come down to profit, and you’re so snuck to call this “The better Life”?!
Truth is, as long as we’ll continue giving value to meaningless things to find a sense of pride, contentment and purpose, we’ll never be able to truly exit the rat race,
Another great solution would be securing a minimum wage to cover basic needs and decent housing, hire architects, designers, plumbers, painters, engineers, basically create an enormous amount of jobs by installing new housing and renovating unlivable places for the people our governments are supposedly protecting.
Not just create accommodations, monopolise these homes if needed be, a “scheme” by the government for the people which goes straight back into the country’s wealth.
Offering a wage to cover rent, food and bills, collecting rent from its tenants, taxes still going to finance public services as medical care, nutritional, psychological assistance and education, including social security, i.e. universal credit and pension, maintaining its capital strength and increasing its living status, encouraging individuals to contribute more towards anthropological causes, creating safe places for people to rehabilitate with themselves within themselves, give people the tools they need to regain the power of which they’ve been deprived by false propaganda, so that more people can rebuild a high self worth in order to own their confidence back, feel capable, good enough to contribute to the wellbeing of all.
For now we can just move the needle forward and hope for the best we get our rightful rights to a more fulfilling life.
Thank you for joining me on this transformative odyssey. Until next time, may we continue to strive towards being better humans, one authentic connection at a time. Peace.
