Letters to SHS: Future Support Needed — Shortlisting

A conscious recruitment process does not begin when the funds land. It begins when two energies recognise that there may be a future worth preparing for.

This is why shortlisting matters.

SHS and 4Honeth are not being built from urgency, panic, desperation, or rushed hiring. They are being built through consciousness, observation, discernment, conversation, timing, preparation, and coherence. If the recruitment process is to reflect the organisation itself, then people should not have to wait for the exact moment of funding before making themselves known. They should be able to say: I see the direction. I am interested in the journey. I may want to be part of this when the time comes. I would like to begin thinking, reading, questioning, and preparing before the formal process opens.

That is what shortlisting allows.

It gives people the opportunity to introduce themselves before the official hiring stage begins. Whether the funds arrive in one hour, one day, two weeks, one year, or through a route we have not yet seen, the people who choose to shortlist themselves are not joining because everything is already perfectly in place. They are joining the field of possibility because they recognise the direction. They understand that the work has already begun, even if the full financial structure has not yet landed in physical form.

This distinction matters. Shortlisting is not a job offer. It is not a contract. It is not a guarantee of employment. It is not a promise that someone will be hired first simply because they arrived early. It is a conscious register of interest, alignment, curiosity, and potential future relationship. It says: when the funds land and the next phase begins, these are the people who already chose to become visible to the process.

Those individuals may receive pre-access to certain materials, questions, frameworks, reading pathways, recruitment philosophies, role descriptions, and orientation documents that can help them prepare. There will be no pressure to rush through them. The point is not to create homework anxiety or test people on how fast they can consume material. The point is to allow people to move at their own pace, manage their own time, and begin meeting the work honestly. Some will read quickly. Some will take months. Some will discover that they are interested in one role and later realise their direction belongs somewhere else. That is part of the value.

A conscious process should help people locate themselves.

When the funds arrive, shortlisted individuals can be contacted with confirmation, evidence where appropriate, and an invitation into the next stage. That may include a group meeting, an introductory conversation, a wider orientation, or a structured discussion around what happens next. The purpose would be to explain how the recruitment process will unfold, what roles may open first, what the early team needs, how the founder intends to build, and what kind of rhythm SHS and 4Honeth will begin with.

The recruitment process itself should not feel like people are being placed under pressure to perform for approval. It should feel like two energies meeting to see whether they can create more coherence together. That is the foundation. Not selling yourself. Not pretending to be finished. Not saying what you think sounds impressive. Not rehearsing an identity. A real conversation should reveal whether the relationship has coherence, whether the person understands the direction, whether their qualities match a current or future need, and whether there is enough shared ground to build from.

This is also why the shortlisting stage can begin before money is fully landed. If someone wants to contribute before the funding phase is complete, they are welcome to understand the context clearly. The funds have not fully landed yet. The structure is not pretending otherwise. The door is open for interest, conversation, contribution, preparation, and alignment, but clarity must remain intact. We do not build conscious systems by hiding the stage we are in. We build them by naming the stage properly and allowing people to decide how they wish to relate to it.

The funds are coming. Whether through outreach, investment, donation, participation, energetic pressure, network activation, or the visible movement of the work, the destination exists. The question is how we nurture time while walking toward it. How do we prepare without forcing? How do we invite without begging? How do we communicate without overpromising? How do we hold the future clearly enough to make room for it, while still respecting the present stage?

That is what this whole public archive has been practising. I could have written everything privately in diaries. I could have kept all the frameworks, observations, systems, visions, questions, critiques, and architectures hidden until the money arrived, then presented them as if they appeared fully formed overnight. I did not choose that. I put the work outside of myself because I wanted those interested in the arguments to have access to them, think with them, question them, build upon them, challenge them, and begin seeing the different ways the work could develop.

Some people misunderstand that openness. They mistake multiple intentions for mess. They assume that because I hold different intentions for different things, I must not know what I want. That is incorrect. I know exactly what I want. I simply happen to want different things for different functions, different systems, different moments, different relationships, and different stages of development. Having specific intentions for multiple things does not make any one intention less coherent. It means the field has been dissected, observed, integrated, and given appropriate direction.

If anything, multiple conscious intentions show that multiple things have been seen clearly enough to be held separately without being confused. Law has its intention. Politics has its intention. Education has its intention. Family has its intention. Recruitment has its intention. 4Honeth has its intention. SHS has its intention. My personal support system has its intention. The public archive has its intention. The future locations have their intention. Different intentions do not mean lack of direction. They mean a larger architecture with different rooms.

This is why shortlisting matters as a recruitment philosophy. It honours people’s ability to discern before everything is materially obvious. It gives people room to prepare before the formal opening. It allows those who already feel called by the work to become known without needing to force a role immediately. It also allows SHS to begin seeing who is circling the field, what skills are present, what questions people are asking, what directions people are drawn to, and what roles may need to open sooner than expected.

Some people may shortlist for a specific role. Some may shortlist generally. Some may discover they are closer to SHS than 4Honeth. Some may discover they are more aligned with 4Honeth than SHS. Some may start with assistantship and later realise they are meant for research, media, events, hospitality, health, education, family office, operations, external relations, or creative production. The point is not to trap people into the first title they recognise. The point is to begin the relationship early enough for better discernment to happen.

A conscious building deserves a conscious threshold. Shortlisting is that threshold.

It is the space before the door fully opens, where those who can already hear the direction may step closer and say: I am here. I am interested. I am willing to think. I am willing to observe. I am willing to prepare. I understand that the journey has begun before the contract does.

When the funds arrive, movement will begin with those already visible to the field. Not because timing alone creates entitlement, but because conscious preparation creates continuity. One delay may go, but not the continuity. One funding route may change, but not the destination. One stage may shift, but not the foundation.

The shortlist exists so that when the next phase arrives, we are not beginning from strangers.

We are beginning from recognition.

Okay, okay, okay. Now, let’s write the next blog in the same series of letters to SSH, feature support needed, dash, shortlisting. Meaning that since we’re creating a conscious system, a conscious building, a conscious recruitment process, we also allow people to shortlist themselves so that they can be the first ones to get known the moment the funds do drop in. Whenever this is in one year’s time, in one day’s time, in one hour’s time, in two weeks’ time, it doesn’t matter. At least, obviously, for the people that would want to shortlist, it doesn’t matter because they are joining for the journey is about, not necessarily for it to start in the exact moment, unless they want to do contribute, but if they do want to contribute, they also have to recognize the fact that the funds have not landed just fully yet. But at the same time, the moment they do land, then they would be the first ones to be part of it. And these individuals will also get pre-access to certain materials in order to be able to prepare themselves, go through anything that might be useful then, and it will be to their own time management to go through it, no pressures to go through it through time. And whenever the funds do come through, that’s the day that they will receive an email as confirmation with also the, obviously, the evidence of it and whatnot, and probably to meet up altogether as a group and discuss the next steps of how we want to go about, how I want to go, because I say we, it will be a we, but it will be about how I want to go about recruiting, who I want to recruit first, how I want to… structure the whole team and also hear the people in the individual have conversations before even the recruiting process really, because the recruiting process should really just be two energies who find themselves coherent and agree to create more coherence together. That’s the approach that I want to have with the people that I build with. So if the individuals do want to already have those conversations, we can already start having those conversations. Eventually the money will drop, whether it’s because of the outreach that I’m doing or it’s because of the energetical pressures, the funds are coming. It’s just a matter of time. But again, it’s how we nurture time when we know of a destination and we want to walk, we want to still walk the way to the destination without necessarily having every piece in place to get there. But obviously, the community is always open. And that’s what I’ve been really, this whole blog has been about that mainly because I could have easily gone through all of this and written it all in my own diaries, but instead I’ve put it out there because I wanted for the out there because I wanted for people who were interested in the arguments to actually have conversations about them and to build upon them and to look at the different ways and whatnot. But of course, you always have those individuals who mistake and misunderstand intentions. So that’s why we, because I have so many intentions for so many different things, because I’ve mastered so many different things and I’ve thought and observed so many different things, people think that I’m messy or don’t actually know what I want. No, I know exactly what I want. I just happen to want different things for different things. And me having different and specific intentions for different things doesn’t make any intention any less than the other.

If anything having multiple conscious intentions, means we’ve diseccted multiple things, observed just as many, integrated thriugh acceptanfe and frowth, ad we walk with out intentions, no one can ever really mistake my intentions. Only denial and delusion can bave them live in thag reality.
