🩸The Sadistic in All of Us: When Love Wears a Knife

US

We like to pretend we’re gentle.
Soft.
Benevolent.
Especially those of us who pride ourselves on our healing work, our conscious conversations, or our perfectly curated inner peace.

But let’s be honest.
We all have a little sadist inside.

No, not necessarily the leather-and-latex kind (though that’s part of the spectrum too). I’m talking about the energy behind the impulse to define, correct, test, dominate, refine, destroy, purify, laugh at, poke fun, pull power—or to withhold love just long enough to feel control settle back into your bones.

The sadist is not cruel by nature—they are devoted.
Cruelty is what happens when that devotion loses its direction.
And let’s be clear—by “nurture,” I’m not pointing fingers at childhood wounds. I mean the nurture we continue to feed ourselves in adulthood: our unexamined impulses, our unspoken superiority, the comfort we find in hierarchy, even when we’re the ones on top of it spiritually.

Sadism is not always expressive—it doesn’t have to be loud.
It can be subtle. Silent. Quiet as withholding truth or correcting your cousin for touching a cable only after they’ve zapped themselves.
(Yes, I was a menace at 10—apologies, but I was experimenting with power and consequence. You get it.) Only then?! ahahah

📏 Definition as Sadism: The Sharpness of Knowing

Here’s where it gets uncomfortable: Every act of definition is a form of sadism.
To define is to kill off infinity.
To say: This is what this is—and therefore, this is what it is not.

The universe is infinite, ever-unfolding, multidimensional. And yet the moment we name something, we draw a line. We draw blood. We reduce a fractal of chaos to a label of containment.

This is why judgment is not neutral. Even when it’s constructive.
Even when it’s feedback. Even when it’s a compliment.
To define something is to cut it free from the rest of what it might’ve been.

You see it in the stage of X Factor. You see it in gossip. You see it in spiritual communities cloaked in the illusion of non-judgment while covertly ranking levels of enlightenment. We call it “guidance,” but often, it’s just veiled sadism.

🔥 Authority as Spiritual Sadism

Every role of authority—every “let me tell you how to be better”—is tinged with sadism.
It doesn’t make it wrong. It makes it powerful.

I am a sadist when I write these words. Because I am cutting through your comfort zone. I am piercing the illusion of innocence we wear when we deny the sadist in ourselves.
The difference is: I trust the part of me who leads others. Because I see the Universe in them. And I trust my blade to point toward expansion, not annihilation.

Now, I didn’t before cause I didn’t not want to have the blood of people who interpret the message and use it for wrong, to then blame me. But I don’t take the responsibility of others anymore, I give them out.

Sometimes, I’ll walk you to the cliff—not to push you, but to say, “Let’s feel the gravity of what this moment means. Let your soul fall first, your body doesn’t need to catch up now, but let’s feel the moment.”

🎭 Laughter, Slip-Ups, and the Quiet Cuts of Everyday Sadism

We laugh when someone trips.
We giggle when someone stutters.
We get a thrill when someone falters on stage, or says the wrong thing in a serious room.

Why?

Because we’re all secretly dancing with the sadist.
Laughter is sound dressed as judgment.
It’s a quick pleasure—sharp, sudden, electric.
It’s the sadist saying, “There, I saw that. That imperfection. That break in the illusion. I touched it.”

Sadism is about power.
Even if just for a flicker of a second.

It can live in the way we delay our own joy to control the tempo of pleasure.
In how we push people’s buttons “just to see what happens.”
In how we overgive while secretly measuring the scoreboard.

These are micro-sadisms. Tiny power plays.
But they’re still invitations—to presence, to clarity, to choice.

🌈 Energetic & Archetypal Sadism: The Sacred Destroyer

Now let’s elevate.

There are holy forms of sadism.

Kali. Hades. Shiva. Sekhmet.

These deities are sacred destroyers. They are love’s sharpest sword. They do not harm to hurt—they harm to awaken.

This form of sadism is a holy unlayering, a fierce mercy, a devotion to truth so total it does not flinch when the illusion screams.

Sadism at this level becomes surgery.
Spiritual amputation.
Cutting away of falsehood to reveal the radiance beneath.

This is the sadism of:

  • Ego deaths
  • Identity loss
  • Spiritual initiations
  • Tower moments
  • Divine chaos

The destroyer doesn’t ask permission.
It knows what must fall.
And so it dances in fire and trusts the phoenix to rise.

🧘🏽‍♀️ Sadism as Soul Contract

Have you ever hurt someone to wake them up?

Not from ego—but from knowing.
From soul-truth.
From the frequency of, “I love you too much to let you sleep through this.”

That, my dear, is sacred sadism.
Advanced-level soul contracts.

  • “I’ll play the villain so you rise.”
  • “I’ll be the tension that breaks your heart open.”
  • “I’ll hurt you, if it means you’ll meet yourself.”

And sometimes, we’re on the receiving end.
Not as punishment.
But as invitation.

This is the sadist as divine antagonist.
The force that breaks the illusion so your truth can remember itself.

🪞Final Reflection: Let’s Be Honest—You’re a Masochist Too

To even read this post is a masochistic act.
Let’s not sugarcoat it.

Growth hurts.
Expansion burns.
Truth stings before it heals.

So when you engage this work, come willingly.
Come open.
Come with a masochist’s heart—the kind that says: “Cut me with truth. I want to feel the edge of what I didn’t know I was hiding from.”

That’s all of us, by the way.

We’re all masochists.
We’re all sadists.
We’re all somewhere between the giver and the receiver of the pain that wakes us up.

Not because we’re broken.
But because this is life.
This is creation.
And sometimes, to touch infinity, something finite must bleed.

🧠 So… What Should You Do With This?

Let it sit. Let it cut. Let it open a window inside you.

And next time you:

  • Laugh at someone’s slip-up
  • Offer advice without being asked
  • Feel joy watching someone else get flustered
  • Or notice the pleasure in being “right”…

Smile.

You’ve just met your inner sadist.
Now ask: Can I wield it with consciousness, care, and courage?

Because the question isn’t whether you’re a sadist.
The question is:
Are you awake while doing it?

🪞 Closing Blessing: A Gentle Invitation

As we step back from this exploration, I invite you to hold this truth close:

“May I meet my inner sadist with love and wisdom, wielding my power consciously for growth, not harm.”

Let this be your guide as you navigate the dance of power and pain within — a reminder that your edges, your shadows, your fierce truth are all sacred parts of your unfolding.

May your journey be fearless, compassionate, and deeply alive.
