They Didn’t Hate the Game. They Hated Losing.

People don’t love fairness.
They love the illusion of possibility.

That distinction explains more about modern society than any policy paper ever could.

The game is always celebrated in the beginning. Everyone praises the rules. Everyone calls it merit-based. Everyone insists it’s open, equal, and fair. Hope thrives not because the system works, but because most people believe they might win.

Then something happens.

One player keeps winning.

Not by cheating.
Not by exploiting loopholes.
But by understanding the rules better — and staying coherent while others fragment.

That’s the moment the mood shifts.

Admiration turns into suspicion.
Respect turns into resentment.
The game that was “fair” yesterday is suddenly “rigged.”

It wasn’t.

What changed was certainty.

People tolerate systems only while they believe they have a chance. The moment beginner’s luck matures into mastery, the illusion collapses. And when illusion collapses, comparison becomes unbearable.

Standards don’t fall because the bar is too high.
They fall because people can no longer stand being measured against someone who didn’t lower themselves to fit in.

So the system adapts — not to truth, but to comfort.

Rules are softened.
Excellence is reframed as privilege.
Consistency is labelled unfairness.

Not because it is — but because it exposes the cost of incoherence.

This is where merit myths break down.

We tell ourselves that effort is rewarded, that equality means sameness, that anyone could win if they just tried hard enough. But the moment someone proves that sustained clarity produces sustained results, the narrative collapses.

Because if coherence works, then distraction is a choice.
If mastery is possible, then confusion is no longer an excuse.

And that is intolerable to a survival-mode culture.

Survival mode ruins everything.

It turns entertainment into sedation — not joy, but distraction from lives people aren’t allowed to fully inhabit.

It turns games into false meritocracies — systems designed to keep hope alive without ever letting truth surface.

And it turns “chance” into the real currency of loyalty.

People don’t support systems because they’re right.
They support them because they still believe they might win.

The moment probability drops, loyalty evaporates.

That’s why clarity is punished instead of elevated.
That’s why coherence is framed as unfair.
That’s why standards are lowered and excellence is suspect.

A society organised around survival cannot reward truth — because truth removes plausible deniability.

Survival-mode societies reward:
distraction over depth,
probability over principle,
and narratives over reality.

Which leads us to a simple rule of thumb:

Question everything that gets glamourised.

If it’s endlessly praised, ask who benefits.
If it’s universally loved, ask what it’s distracting from.
If it promises fairness without demanding coherence, ask what it’s protecting.

Because the problem was never the game.

It was the moment people realised they were never going to win it playing the way they were taught.

And instead of learning the rules properly, they demanded the rules be rewritten.

A society that can’t tolerate clarity will always call coherence unfair.


I play the lottery cause I prophesised it and I can’t win if I don’t play. The same way I said I was gon’ do a class action, I am going to win, yet the game it’s to take more NOs than yes and as no other will finance my now, I’ll finances my chances myself. I love the game, the thrill of endlessly thinking and acting as if the next game was the last one, is what lead me here too. Until the day it is.
