Letter to SHS: Emotions Are My Payment of Preference

Dear SHS,

Writing to you has been such a soulful experience, one paid in full. Thank you. This is something money cannot pay, yet the one that laid out the circumstances to be paid.

People often ask what motivates me.

Some assume it is money.

Some assume it is recognition.

Some assume it is influence.

Some assume it is power.

The truth is much simpler.

Emotions are my payment of preference.

Not emotions in the shallow sense.

Not drama.

Not chaos.

Not emotional dependency.

Emotion in its original form.

Energy in motion.

Movement.

Life.

Evidence that something has shifted.

Evidence that something has landed.

Evidence that consciousness has moved from one position to another.

If I spend three hours speaking to someone and they leave with the exact same perspective, the exact same assumptions, the exact same fears, the exact same limitations, and the exact same relationship to themselves, then very little energy moved.

Information may have been exchanged.

Words may have been spoken.

Time may have passed.

But movement was minimal.

What I value is movement.

A question appearing where certainty once lived.

A realization arriving where confusion once stood.

A release occurring where pressure was stored.

A laugh.

A tear.

A pause.

A challenge.

A breakthrough.

A confrontation.

A moment of self-recognition.

A moment where someone finally sees themselves clearly.

That is payment.

Not because I own it.

Not because it belongs to me.

Because it proves life happened.

It proves something moved.

It proves energy did not remain stagnant.

This is why I can sit with almost any domain of existence.

Politics.

Business.

Psychology.

Relationships.

Governance.

Spirituality.

Science.

Hospitality.

Education.

Health.

Art.

Family.

Because beneath every domain is the same thing.

Movement.

Every system is attempting to move something.

Every person is attempting to move something.

Every argument is attempting to move something.

Every dream is attempting to move something.

Every fear is attempting to prevent movement.

Every attachment is attempting to preserve movement.

Every wound is frozen movement.

Every healing is restored movement.

Every emotion is energy in motion.

That is why emotions matter.

Not because they should rule us.

Not because they should be worshipped.

Because they are information.

Because they are indicators.

Because they reveal where movement exists and where movement has become trapped.

A civilization without emotional intelligence is a civilization that has lost the ability to read its own dashboard.

A person without emotional awareness is a person trying to navigate life while ignoring half the instruments available to them.

This is why SHS cannot merely be about logic.

Nor can it merely be about emotion.

It must understand the relationship between the two.

Logic without emotion becomes disconnected from life.

Emotion without logic becomes directionless.

Together they create navigation.

Together they create discernment.

Together they create intelligent movement.

My preference has always been movement.

Not comfort.

Not agreement.

Movement.

Growth is movement.

Learning is movement.

Truth is movement.

Accountability is movement.

Evolution is movement.

Even disagreement can be valuable if it creates movement.

The only thing I struggle to find value in is stagnation disguised as certainty.

Because certainty often sounds alive while secretly preventing motion.

That is why I ask questions.

That is why I analyse.

That is why I challenge.

That is why I write.

That is why I build.

Not because I need everyone to agree.

Because I want the field to move.

Because movement creates possibility.

Because possibility creates futures.

Because futures create choices.

And choices create humanity.

So if anyone ever asks what my preferred currency is, tell them this:

My payment of preference is emotion.

Not because emotion is weakness.

Not because emotion is sentimentality.

Because emotion is evidence that life is still moving.

And wherever life is moving, consciousness still has somewhere to go.

With clarity,

Susan
